Angela Byers, 44, of Albany died at Albany Samaritan Hospital, as a result of multiple chronic illnesses, compounded by pneumonia.

Angela was born at Lebanon Community Hospital to Roy Shilling and Louise Wolfe. She grew up in Lebanon, attending Tennessee School from 1st through 8th grade and graduated from Lebanon Union High School in 1987. She went on to LBCC and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Political Science.

As a child she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially at both her grandparent’s farms in Scio with her siblings, many cousins and aunts. She loved camping and swimming at Waldo, Suttle, and Scout Lake, and in the Three Sisters Wilderness area.

As a teen, Angela enjoyed watching movie marathons (especially science fiction). She was interested in astronomy and spent many hours gazing at the sky through her telescope. She was fascinated with computers, beginning with her first one in 1983. She started using the internet, online chatting, and even creating web pages long before most people knew what the internet even was.

Angela had a brief career working for state senators in Salem, and managing newspaper distribution for the Salem Statesman-Journal. She suffered from numerous health issues, and was forced into Disability at a young age.

She met the man who would become her husband, Reed Byers, through an online ad in late 1999. They married on July 27, 2002. Her disabilities made it unwise for them to commit to raising children, so they adopted and doted on their “four-legged kids”.

Angela and Reed were active in Albany Civic Theater, as well as Corvallis Secular Society. They were both “computer geeks” and provided tech support for friends and family.

Angela was predeceased by her father, Roy Shilling, on March 9, 2014.

She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Reed; grandmother, Elsie Hull; mother, Louise Wolfe and husband Bill; stepmother Shirley Shilling; sister, Ginger Rummell; brothers Brian and Eric Shilling; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
